Be Part of the Solution

Whether you’re a community partner, investor, or advocate, or someone filling your blue bin, there’s a role for you in this movement. Together, we can scale a solution that makes cost-effective plastic circularity a global reality.

A Circular Economy for Waste

At Sustane, we’re on a mission to improve plastic circularity, materially reduce GHG emissions, and create a global impact.

Clean technology solutions like ours address environmental problems such as single-use and end of-life plastic waste. In addition, they reduce climate change impacts and build a sustainable economy for future generations.

The 5 R’s…and Sustane

Did you know that Canadians throw away over 3.5 million tonnes of plastic waste every year, and that we recycle only 9%? As a result, the rest goes to landfills or the environment, threatening the health of wildlife, rivers, lakes, and oceans.

While certain types of plastics have biodegradable alternatives, single-use plastics play a critical role in health care and food safety. However, they remain difficult to replace in many essential uses.

Sustane focuses on improving waste circularity by repurposing single-use and end-of-life plastics into a fossil fuel replacement in the the production of new, more sustainable products.

Fewer Landfills, Fewer Emissions.

Suitable for communities with a population base of 200,000 or more, Sustane utilizes the approximately 90% of plastics that aren’t recycled today. Diverting plastics reduces the number and size of new landfills needed, and lowers operating costs.

Our innovative approach is complementary with existing waste management processes and also helps municipalities and landfill operators reach their climate goals.

FAQ

How does your process work?

Our propriety process sorts, cleans, depolymerizes, con-
denses and refines end of life residential and commercial
plastics into plastic feedstock.

See our process here

What type of materials can you recycle?

We process a diverse range of single use and end-of-life plastics, including MRF residuals, agricultural plastics, marine waste, and commercial scrap.

Where do you get your waste?

We partner with businesses and the local municipalities that pay a tipping fee to have their waste processed, at a comparable cost to landfilling but with added benefits and fewer emissions.

What products do you produce?

We produce light distallate, a high quality drop in ingredient in the prodcution of ethylene, which is then used in the manufacturing of single-use and other virgin plastics.

What size of community is your ideal target?

Our scalable approach means we are able to meet the needs of communities with population bases of 150,000 or greater.

Shouldn’t we be making less plastic, not more?

While certain types of plastics can be replaced with bio degradable alternatives, single-use plastics play a critical role in health care and food safety, among other things.

Sustane is focused on improving waste circularity, by repurposing single-use and end-of-life into alternative fuels used in the production of new plastics. Alternative fuels are used in place of fossil fuels, resulting in more sustainable products.

Does your technology reduce GHG emissions?

Sustane’s ISCC+ certified feed stock has less than 20% of the carbon intensity of fossil alternatives.

We reuse the energy produced in our process to power our facility.
